US FRIES FIESTA 2019 - Alfresco G Trattoria

Attention for the fast food and potatoes lover!

There's no denying that fried stuff are awesome. But did you know, French Fries have been awesome over 150 years? In fact, the first mention of 'French Fried Potatoes' occurred in print as far back as 1856 in a cookbook that described the recipe for the tasty dish as follows : ' Cut new potatoes in thin slices, put them in boiling fat and add a little salt, fry both sides of a light golden brown colour,drain. ' They've been served as street food for even longer. THANKS, Wikipedia!


The Potatoes USA has kicked off its U.S. Fries Fiesta campaign in Penang and Ipoh from 17th June to 21st July 2019. Altogether, 20 outlets are participating in the U.S Fries Fiesta campaign, with 15 outlets in Penang and 5 in Ipoh - all serving up unique and tantalizing dishes using U.S. fries varieties.  

Secondly, there will also be a Facebook contest where the public can win dining vouchers on a weekly basis with a grand prize of an iPad at the end of the contest. All they need to do is to order any US Fries Fiesta dish from any of the participating outlets and post a creative caption and photo of the U.S Potatoes dish with #MYPotatoesUSA and also “Check In” to the participating outlet. Terms and conditions apply. 

Be prepared to enjoy U.S fries and pizza like never before! Who would guess that potatoes could be so nutritious? Before I talk more about the food presentation, let me show you something first, hehe.

We started off with the U.S. Hashbrown Smoked Salmon Benedict.


1. U.S. Hash Brown Smoked Salmon Benedict
This is my favorite and it is so good it is hard to stop eating! A delicate layer of perfectly smoked salmon, crowned by two firm hash brown. We had the classic egg benedict on top of the hash brown and smoked salmon.  The crispy hash brown is much better choice than the typical English muffin, which inevitably gets soggy, with this version, You're headed straight for a satisfying crunch at the end of each smoke, rich bite. 
So yummy~~~ The eggs are done to perfection with thick hashbrown and smoked salmon to pair along.

2. Beef/Chicken Pepperoni Pizza U.S. waffle fries 
We must say that the presentation looks promising. The pizza is really wonderful. I'm not the pizza fans but the crust is super delicious. Not only standing over the oil but the fried smell that lingers in the 'house' is the worst. This meal is amazing. 


3. Oven Baked Cajun Chicken with U.S. Tater Tots
These tater tots are my favorite. They are like the pocket size hash brown.  I enjoyed the cajun chicken itself and the tater tots come with it. Top them with cheese and Tater. It made from the potato of course, and normally served as side dishes, but this is freaking best.

Ringing the audience were food presentation by 20 participating hotels and restaurants ( As below ) The month-long potatoes U.S. Potatoes Fries Fiesta runs from 17th June to 21st July 2019 and customers who patronize the participating outlets during the fiesta month will get to enjoy U.S potatoes cooked in the inimitable styles of the different establishments.
