By 靜涵 ♥ - March 23, 2018

Hello and hi My face is big in here and i'm happy because that i invited by Kota Dine and Coffee for their New April Launching Menu as it's called Hidang Style. For the Hidang Style menu, they will only accept reservations via call, Facebook or Email. Well, of course, they do accept walk in too, but is others menu from this. But a reservations is highly recommended. Kota Dine and Coffee located in Penang. Little did i know that there is actually a hidden gem inside Fort Cornwalls, It is not only a heritage fort but also house a restaurant. They offer a super calm, cosy and quite place for diners to chill or having their meals there. They uses the freshest ingredients available and coupled with their excellent services makes this place always comfortable. Yes! The service was really prompt. The menu offers very authentic local food and it tasted really good. That is why sometimes this places is packed and crowded and need to make reservation to avoid disappointment.

While you're here, you must try out something from Kota Dine and Cafe's Hidang Style Menu after reading finish this post! Hehe.

First things is the signature Butterfly pea flower rice cooked with coconut milk. Very fragrant rice just delicious! It is not synthetic colouring but they actually used blue flower to dye the rice into blue colour and making it intriguing in visual aspects. The blue rice tasted difference compared to others, this has been cooked nicely with coconut milk. Of course, how could we expect just having blue rice but no accompanying dishes. There are various mouth-watering dishes for this Hidang Style set.

You can choose either Ice Lemon Tea or Ice Peach Tea.

This is one of my Favourite dishes - Steam Baked Otak-Otak in Puff Pastry. I have never tried this before in Penang, well of course, in my life. This is nice.
The cooking techniques and innovative produce to deliver surprising new twists on an already fascinating cuisine. The effect is simple, delicious, full of flavour and dazzling.
Yes of course, the otak-otak ( Tumeric with fish cuttle) was encased in homemade puff pastry and served it as a shared dish with rice.

The Marinated Soy Sauce Chicken came with Pumpkin and Salted Egg. This dish made of chicken cooked with soy sauce. The strong flavour of soy sauce usually covers up the taste of chicken. You can commonly find this at Cantonese cuisine but in here the dark and glossy whole chicken dunked in a soy sauce mix with the meat so tender, silky and juicy that they are one of the must-have's for this Hidang Style. The unique is the pumpkin and salted egg as they've blended them together and made a puree.

Crispy Prawn Crackers with sambal. You know what, the prawn crackers goes well with dark chili sambal belacan.

The green papaya salad is amazing to. Whatever you do, you can have the green papaya salad too! Yea this looks common but this version is uncommon with a dressing that will have you licking your plate. Like you will tasted for a bit spicy and sour.

When come to shark meat, In fact, after tasting this, It goes really well with my Butterfly Pea rice. For the shark meat, they have a strong ammonia odor, if some of the chefs did not hide this odor with seasoning or preparation methods, then there is no way to remove the fishy smell. Shark must be handled properly from the time it is caught to the time it is cooked, more so than fresh caught fish. But the best things is, this shark meat is also one of my favourite dishes. This dish tasted some asam sauce.

Broccoli and Coriander soup with small lobsters.
Hmm if you are coriander lover, you will taste it has a fresh taste with strong aroma, while the haters would say it has a soapy taste and a pungent smell. This also a great way to start your meal with the Broccoli and Coriander soup. They've blended the soup until smooth and served in the warmed bowl.

The last dishes is Stir Fried Kang Kong. This looks yummy and i probably love to have it for my meal too. The ever popular Kang Kong Belacan needs no introduction. It is a well loved perennial Malaysia stir fry that is absolutely delicious.
