Live in Nature must-visit in Penang @ The Habitat Penang Hill

By 靜涵 ♥ - April 26, 2018

Hi readers.  Do you ever think what is the great ways to spend a day outside Penang. Yes The habitat at Penang Hill. Located inside the Penang Hill which is very popular and crowded attraction among locals and visitors. For Habitat, a few minutes walk from the Top Station of Penang Hill Funicular Railway marks the starting point of the 1.6km long The Habitat nature trail. A trail that meanders below three of the hill's oldest historic bungalows, and through the entire stretch of The Habitat themed park. But overall, this is a wonderful place to experience the rich diversity of jungle life and have fun at the same time. There is a free shuttle service from the funicular station at the top of Penang Hill, but i think it is an easy walk, if you are able and maybe you see so much more. lol

Tickets for the tram are RM10 (2 ways, Adult) RM5 (Senior Citizen/Student), RM3 (Children) Prices are for Malaysians (MyKad holder)

So when you reach up there, complimentary nature guided tours are provided to every visitor of The Habitat. The tours are conducted by award winning naturalists and visitors will be in awe of the large amount of knowledge they can acquire at The Habitat.

This is true, we came as a group of six and we are pleased and entertained with the enthusiatic and knowledgeable guide Mr Muhammad Nazirul. He provided to be very knowledgeable and observant like spotting wildlife that my normally observant eye never noticed. He was very well informed and able to answer all of our questions. It's excellent if needed on the native plants birds insects and animals.

Fragrant Garden
Each plant and flower in the Habitat has its own unique smell. Scent is probably the most potent of all senses and certain aromas can actually alter your mood in many ways

Ginger Grove
Found throughout the world, but primarily in the shady woods of Asia and North America, both wild and cultivated culinary ginger produce flowers and are attractive. This part of the Habitat garden naturally showcases ginger, including ornamental ginger at its best.

An extension to the trees themselves the Canopy Walk will gives you a spectacular view across the hills to the state of Kedah. With multiple viewing platforms, spanning approximately 230m in length it stands at 15m at the highest point. This is what surprised me. The Canopy Walk is designed and engineered to be 'tree friendly' without rigging any of the steel cables directly onto the trees. The spacious and sturdy platforms provide a safe and unobstructed up-closed view of the 130 million year old virgin jungle's canopy.

The Habitat Canopy Walk
The canopy walk is long and offers a very nice view of the surrounding hills and jungle. There are also have two areas with giant swings where you can take insta-worthy pictures.

The Treetop walk is a 13m highest public viewing platform located on the plateau just above the Mid-Point Rest Area and Museum. Designed to handle up to 120 people at a time, it offers mesmerizing 360-degree views of Penang, including Georgetown and serves as the highest public viewing point on the island. On a clear day the islands of Langkawi can be seen in the distance, and if you look just in front of you, Bel Retinro can also be seen in all its splendor. Today this historic plateau is also an ideal spot for bespoke events such as weddings, dinner parties and picnics.

The Tree Top Walk
The tree top walk We walked through the lush rain forest along the Canopy Walk before arriving at the Tree Top Walk was enjoyable with large swings to add to the experience. 360 Tree-top walk are brillant, with panoramic views over the straits and information plaques giving just the right amout of text and visual information to help you identify places.

Thanks to The Habitat for this invitation and we really do enjoyed it! It's a must see in Penang
What i recommended/ advice is
A very special highlight is the 360 degree tree top walk. The structure of the Tree Top Walk is unique worldwide can able to see the entire Penang Island. You can spot local birds, sometimes eagle, animals and learn about the spectacular flora and fauna of Penang. Definitely a must-see place when visiting Penang
* Make sure you visit in the morning and get to the funicular train early to avoid long queues because this is a very busy palce with local school children, groups and tourists.
