ENJOYING MY DIM SUM and food @ IMPERIAL COURT ,the top komtar PENANG

It's been a while since I last eat my dim sum and i did crave for it recently just that did not manage to find friends to go along with me as when i wake it is already about brunch time and my friends already have different cravings at that time. Located at Level 6 The Top KomtarCantonese cuisine is Imperial Court's signature restaurant and it has a reputation of serving some of the nice dim sum in town. It's ala cart style so you will be ordering off the dim sum menu which includes selection of various steamed and deep fried dim sum, congee and snacks. In total, there are many items to choose from. With that said, I feel the overall quality of the dim sum here is just awesome.

Thanks Imperial Court for the invitation.

Lets start with the better ones first. Steamed scallop and seafood dumpling RM12 / 3pcs was probably the best dim sum i had that day. To save myself from repeating I am going to say I enjoyed every single dim sum i tried. The ingredients were fresh and you could tell that a skilful chef was behind the creation.

Imperial Dumpling Served with Shark's Fin in Supreme Stock RM 18 each. You know what, this probably can fit for 2 people! The portion totally give me a shock. The prawns were big and succulent and wrapped in snowy, translucent dough has a pleasant texture of chewy skin and firm stuffing , suggestion freshness of ingredient.

One of my favourite too. I like their Steamed Siew Mai RM8 / 3pcs. Prawn dumpling wrapped in wantan skin and topped with roe for being just the right size, because anything bigger cannot be regarded as 'dainty' and anything smaller would be stingy.

Deep Fried Yam Puff RM8 / 2pcs
Crispy and Juicy! Yam Puff also variety of dim sum served with Cantonese cuisine. It is a standard dish in Dim Sum restaurant in everywhere. The dumpling is deep fried and the outer layer of Yam Puff become crisp, light and fluffy. The filling is made from seasonal ground pork.

Wok  fried Radish Cake with Egg & XO Sauce RM9
Fyi, XO sauce is one of the most luxury Chinese condiments. It is mainly made with dried scallops, dried shrimps, chilli peppers, shallot and garlic. It has a deep savoury and umami flavour with a little kick. It can be put on pretty much anything. They are especially good in fried rice, noodles and vegetables. In Imperial Court, Wok Fried Radish Cake with egg WITH XO Sauce is a quite well-known dim sum dish there. XO sauce and Radish Cake are excellent match. They don't take away from each other flavours, but make each other even better. In this dish, you get the savoriness from the sauce, the sweetness from the radish cake, the crunchiness from the bean sprouts. There are so much flavours going on, and you just can't get enough of.

Spanish Iberico Ribs RM14 / 100g
Spanish Iberico Ribs is heavenly. It may not look like much but believe me, it was packed full of flavour and texture. Juicy, succulent and absolutely delicious. Two racks were simply insufficient for anyone who love a good plate of ribs.

Steamed Chef Special Bean Curds RM22 / per portion
The bean curds is also recommended. Soft, smooth and not too sweet when it comes to your mouth. The Tofu is topped with prawns and carrots

Deep Fried Egg Plant with XO chilli sauce RM18  / per portion
Crispy outside, tender and sweet inside and Stir Fry Mix Vegetables with Macadamia Nuts RM22 / per portion The Stir Fry Mix Vegetables what i known is 'Chap cai' is really good too. Crunchy cabbages, some mushrooms and a lot of Macadamia Nuts on top of them. Of course, the yam ring is nice!

Osmanthus Jelly RM2 per pcs
We ended off the course with a dessert called Osmanthus Jelly. The Osmanthus are tiny and beautiful and this is used mainly in Traditional Chinese Medicine and some health benefits.
This Osmanthus flower gives this dish a light scent and calming fragrance that's simply soothing for an after-meal finish.

Hong Kong style Seafood Congee RM388/ 10pax
The seafood porridge comes with Prawns, Crabs and Fish. The seafood and fish were fresh and the flesh firm. This was delicious and full of flavour and it's boiled for long hours. The portion totally give me a shock. Maybe because I'm full that time lol.
The dim sum quality i had was excellent. They were all delicious. Overall my dining experience is awesome. Thumbs up. Well worth of visit.
